Community Interest Company's are a new form of social enterprise introduced by the Government to make it easier for voluntary and community groups to benefit their chosen client sector and community.Since 2005, over 1000 CIC’s have been registered and many of these are health related.

As a formal registered Community Interest Company, we have a constitution and all the relevant policies including, health and safety, equal opportunity/diversity, volunteering, payments, disciplinary etc and have written codes of conduct for our members’ behaviour.

WE ARE GOVERNED BY THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY REGULATOR

 MEMBERSHIP OF UiP

We have a database of members throughout the West Midlands with a wide range of experience and expertise, including Users and Carers and allied workers. Our members cover the geographical diversity of the area from inner city to rural countryside.

Some mental health service users have been involved in service development for many years, but we need more involvement from a greater number of people especially those people who have been helped by GPs and other services outside of acute services.

We would particularly welcome interest from black and minority ethnic individuals, lesbian, gay and transgender individuals and any groups that have been underrepresented in the past.
